The Spanish film director Pedro Almodóvar was born in Castilla-La Mancha in 1949. He is known for his very poetic films which circle around creative existences in a cruel world. His first film is from 1978 and since then, he has been very productive indeed. Like Woody Allen he rarely leaves more than 2 years between his films. Highlights include "Todo sobre mi madre", "Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios" and "La mala educación", the latter starring Gael Garcia Bernal. Almodóvar has long worked with Penelope Cruz, and they have so far worked on four films together, including "Los Abrazos Rotos" from 2009. HE is also known for having said: "Cinema can fill in the empty spaces of your life and your loneliness".
