Explanation

The American comedian and actor Eddie Murphy (born 1961) first broke through as a stand-up comedian on "Saturday Night Live" in the early 1980s. He then started acting on the side. One of his first major role was as the detective Axel Foley in "Beverly Hills Cop", a series of three films produced 1984-1994. He directed his first feature length film in 1989 - "Harlem Nights". Up through the 1990s he continued acting but also increasingly worked as a voice actor, with roles in "Norbit" and "Dr. Doolittle".
