Tycho Brahe (1546-1601) was a Danish astronomer and founder of the modern, observing astronomy. One night in November 1572 he observed a new, very bright star in the constellation Cassiopeia.It had otherwise been maintained since antiquity that the world beyond the Moon's orbit was eternally unchangeable. Tycho Brahe was born in Scania, then part of Denmark, and was originally born Tyge Ottesen Brahe. He died in Prague where he is also buried in the Church of Our Lady in front of Týn.
