Lucy is the common name of one of the most complete fossil examples of the skeleton of an individual Australopithecus afarensis. The skeleton (3.5-4 million years old) was found in northern Ethiopia. Lucy was more than a metre tall and is estimated to have weighed around 31 kg. Her skeleton displays both human and ape features. She is named after the Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds".
