Toyota is Japan's and the world's largest automobile manufacturer by production. The company started as a spin-off from a textile machine company founded by Sakichi Toyoda and in 1937 the son, Kiichiro Toyoda, created an independent company. Toyota is headquartered in the cities Nagoya and Toyota City. The latter used to be called Koromo and was known for its silk production.
