General Idi Amin Dada Oumee (1928–2003) was a military dictator in Uganda from 25 January 1971 until 13 April 1979. His dictatorship was characterized by gross human rights abuse, political repression, nepotism, corruption, and gross economic mismanagement. Amin also suffered from serious delusions of power, and, amongst other things, gave himself the title 'The Uncrowned King of Scotland'. The film 'The Last King of Scotland' from 2006 partly portrays Idi Amin's life.
