What decade was the Suez Canal inaugurated?

Explanation

The Suez Canal was inaugurated in 1869 by Empress Eugénie of France and is located in Egypt. It connects the Mediterraneean Sea at Port Said with the Red Sea at Suez. The canal is 162 km long and up to 365 metres wide. Every year some 25,000 ships sail through the canal. It takes between 11 and 16 hours to pass through it. It took 10 years and 1.5 million workers to build the canal. 20,000 died during the work.
