The legendary American athlete Frederick Carlton (Carl) Lewis was born the 1st of July 1961. He has won a total of ten Olympic medals and nine of them were of gold. Four of them were in long jump at the Olympics in Los Angeles (1984), Seoul (1988), Barcelona (1992) and Atlanta (1996). In 1999 he was elected as the "Sportsman of the century" by the International Olympic Committee for his many achievements and good sportsmanship.
