The Swedish actor Max Von Sydow (born 1929) started acting whilst still in school. It was when he started working with Ingmar Bergman that his career really took off, and especially his role as a knight in "The Seventh Seal" made him famous, also outside Sweden. This opened up an opportunity to also be cast in Hollywood - in 1986, for instance, he had a role in Woody Allen's "Hannah and her Sisters". He was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance as Lassefar in "Pelle the Conqueror" and was nominated again in 2012 for his for his supporting role in "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close". Max Von Sydow managed to feature in 13 Ingmar Bergman films before Bergman passed away in 2007.
