The American actor and director Robert Redford was born in California in 1936 and is an icon in American film history. He broke through with the film "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" from 1969, in which he and Paul Newman play two outlaws who migrate to Bolivia. Redford acted in several films, but in 1980 he first stepped behind the camera and directed the film "Ordinary Film", for which he won an Oscar. He has also directed "The Horse Whisperer", "A River Runs Through It" and "Lions for Lambs". He continued his acting career in parallel, and big roles include the one in "Spy Game" from 2001, where he plays opposite Brad Pitt. Redford is also known for creating the film festival Sundance, which has taken its name from the film "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". It takes place in Utah every year. In general, Redford is known as being a very political film creator.
