Frank Darabont is an American-Hungarian director. He was born in France in 1959 but moved to the US as a child. Darabont started directing tv and short films in the beginning of the 1980s, but broke through on film with "The Shawshank Redemption (1994), considered one of the best films ever by many people. In 1999, Darabont directed another film based on a Stephen King novel - "The Green Mile", featuring Tom Hanks, Sam Rockwell and Michael Clarke Duncan, as well as James Cromwell in the role as prison director. A couple of years later he directed Jim Carrey in "The Majestic". Since then, Darabont has spent most of his talent and time directing tv series. Stephen King and Darabont are close friends in real life.
