The American actor and director Kevin Costner was born in 1955 in California. He started making films and tv series in the 1980s and had his break-through in 1987 with his lead role in the film "The Untouchables", directed by Brian De Palma. Three years later he debuted behind the camera, directing the Western "Dances with Wolves". The film won 7 Oscars. Since then Costner has starred in several large productions. He is particularly fond of films with a political slant - he can be seen in "JFK", "Swing Vote" and not least "Thirteen Days" about the Cuba crisis. Next to his acting career Costner is also the lead singer in the band "Kevin Costner and Modern West".
