MOVIES QUESTION #7604

For his role in which film did Morgan Freeman win his first Oscar?

Million Dollar Baby

Explanation

American actor Morgan Freeman was born in 1937 in Tennessee. He considered a career in the United States Air Force, but instead chose to pursue acting. His first film role was a small part in "Who Says I Can't Ride A Rainbow!" from 1971, but his real breakthrough on film came with the 1989 film "Driving Miss Daisy". Here he plays Miss Daisy's (played by Jessica Tandy) chauffeur. He also had a large role in "The Shawshank Redemption" (1994), and in 2004 he won an Oscar for best supporting role in Clint Eastwood's "Million Dollar Baby". He was also nominated for his portrayal of Nelson Mandela in the 2010 film "Invictus". Freeman has a large boat in the Caribbean Ocean, but his busy schedule only allows him one yearly trip on it.
