Benicio del Toro gained fame up through the 1990s. He was born in Puerto Rico in 1967 and broke through with his role in "The Usual Suspects". After this, he was hired by Telly Gilliam to play the lawyer Dr Gonzo in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". Although it has since become a cult classic, the film was heavily critisised by film critics, and not least Del Toro's performance. He took a year off to recover, but returned in 2000 where he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Role in Steven Soderbergh's "Traffic". Since then, you have been able to see him in some smaller productions, including "Things We Lost In The Fire" by Susanne Bier.
