John Gavin Malkovich was born in 1953 in Illinois, USA. He started his career on the theatre stage. His film debut came in 1984 with "Places in the Heart", for which he gained an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. His roles grew in size over the years and today, Malkovich is broadly acknowledged as one of the best, and also one of the most versatile, actors around. He is known for his roles as "Cyrus the Virus" in "Con Air" and Murnau in "Shadow of the Vampire". He has worked with Steven Spielberg in "Empire of the Sun" (1987) and the Coen Brothers in "Burn after Reading" (2008) which also features George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
