Sean Connery was born in Scotland in 1930. Over the years he has acted in more than 90 productions. Connery is best known for his role as James Bond in the film adaptations of Ian Flemming's novels. Connery's first Bond movie was "Dr. No" from 1962, and he subsequently starred in 5 official Bond movies. Connery has also done other major films, e.g. "The Name of The Rose" from 1986, directed by Jean Jacques Annaud, based on the original novel by Umberto Eco. More recently, he featured in the action movie "The Rock" from 1996. In 2003, Connery shot his last movie, "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" before retiring.
