The film as we know it was born in 1895, when the French Lumiere brothers held a public showing of some 10 films at the Parisian Grand Café. After this, several others, including the Skladanovski brothers in Germany, the Brighton school in England and Edwin S. Porter in the US started producing. In 1915 and 1916, the first 'film master', D.W. Griffith, made 'Birth of a Nation' and 'Intolerance'. If the pioneers invented the language of films, then D.W. Griffith invented the grammar behind.
