Freddie Mercury (1946-1991) was a British singer and songwriter, originally named Farookh Bulsara. He was born on the island of Zanzibar off the coast of Tanzania. Freddie Mercury was the lead singer of Queen, and wrote the songs "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Somebody to Love" and "We Are the Champions" among others. He died of AIDS on November 24, 1991.
