Mario Cipollini (born 1967) is an Italian former professional cyclist. Cipollini really stepped into the limelight in 1989, when he won his first stage in Giro d'Italia. Since then, he has won a total of 42 stages, making him the most winning rider in Giro d'Italia. He has also won 12 stages in Tour de France. Cipollini was one of the best sprinters of the 1990s, and was therefore known as 'Il Re Leone' (Lion King) and Super Mario.
