The former dictator in Libya, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi (1942-2011). He wrested power from the country's king in 1969 at a military coup. He lost it again 2011 after the Arabic Spring, which lead the country into a civil war, where NATO gave the revolutionaries air support after receiving a UN mandate. Gadaffi took turns being friends and enemies with the west and its neighbours and supported both terrorism (the Lockerbie bombings) and assasinations. Gadaffi profiled himself as a feminist with several female bodyguards, but mistreated his own people. He died 69 years old.
