His first opera was "Oberto, conte di San Bonifacio" (1839), but became famous with "Nabucco" (1842). Giuseppe Verdi wrote a number of well-known operas, including "Ernani" (1844), "Macbeth" (1847), "Luisa Miller" (1849), "Rigoletto" (1851), "Aida" (1871) and "Othello" (1887).
