In 1985, Heysel Stadium in Brussels became the scene of one of the worst tragedies ever in the history of football. Before the European Cup final between Juventus and Liverpool a giant fight between hooligans from the two clubs broke out. The fans panicked, and all in all, 39 were killed and 600 injured. Juventus won the match on a penalty scored by Michel Platini. English teams were barred from all European football for five years following the incident. Since 1995, Heysel has been known as "King Baudouin Stadium".
