Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906) is a Norwegian author, who was an epochal influence on naturalist theater. His dramatic technique, in which hidden conflicts are gradually exposed with tragic consequences, set a strong precedent for later theater. Works by Ibsen include "Peer Gynt" (1867), "A Doll's House" (1879), "Ghosts" 1881). Ibsen wrote a total of 26 plays and approximately 300 poems.
