Michael Joseph Jackson (1958-2009) was an American singer and songwriter. In many years there were rumors that Michael Jackson bleached his skin. However in 1986, Michael Jackson was diagnosed vitiligo and lupus. The latter is potentially fatal, though not in Jackson's case. Vitiligo is an autoimmune skin disease where the pigment cells (melanocytes) attack each other for unknown reasons. This causes white patches on the exposed skin. Jackson died at his home in 2009 at the age of fifty years.
