Eiffel Tower (Tour Eiffel) is Paris landmark and is known internationally as a symbol of France. The Eiffel Tower is named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel. It is a famous tourist destination with over 5.5 million visitors annually. The tower is 300 meters high, not counting television antenna on top, making the tower 321 meters high, all in all. There are 1665 stairs to the top. Eiffel Tower cost 7.8 million francs, when 300 steel workers built the tower from 1887 to 1889 by collecting 18,038 pieces of steel with 2.5 million rivets. In total, used approximately 7,000 tons of steel. The 4 foundations are dug 9-14 meters into the earth and each has a surface of 26 square meters.
