Genital warts or Condylomata acuminat is a sexually transmitted disease. It is caused by some sub-types of human papilloma virus (HPV). Genital warts can occur in clusters or alone and look like small stalks. It can take weeks, months or even years before an infected person displays visible symptoms. In women they occur on the outside and inside of the vagina, or in the cervix. In men, they usually are seen on the tip of the penis. They may also be found on the shaft of the penis. Genital warts have to be treated by a GP.
