Baron Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen (1892-1918) was an officer in the Imperial German Army during World War I. He got bored and therefore became a pilot, known as the Red Baron. He is considered the ace-of-aces of that war, being officially credited with 80 air combat victories, more than any other pilot. Richthofen was shot down and killed near Amiens on 21 April 1918. Richthofen flew a red Fokker Dr. I, the most famous type of plane from World War I, not least due to the Red Baron.
