The first film in the British new wave, known as Kitchen Sink Dramas, came in 1959 and was directed by Tony Richardson. What was it called? Look Back in Anger

Explanation

Britain had its own new wave in film in the early 1960s, called 'kitchen sink realism', and focussing on working class Britons. 3 films in particular symbolise it: Lindsay Anderson's 'This Sporting Life' from 1963 became world-famous and a very young Richard Harris was Oscar-nominated for his performance. Also 'Saturday Night, Sunday Morning' by Karel Reisz, starring Albert Finney, was internationally renowned, but it was the 1959 film 'Look Back in Anger' which started the wave. It was directed by Tony Richardson.
