Raisins are dried, red grapes. They are produced in many regions of the world, but mainly where the sun is suitable both to grow the grapes in the first place, and to dry the fruit afterwards. It doesn't take many days under strong sunlight to turn a grape into a raisin. Raisins are used for cooking, as a snack, or in baking. Like other dried fruit raisins are perceived to be relatively healthy snacks because fruit contains a lot of antioxidants, vitamins and fibres.
